LOWER LEVELS
When another contractor didn’t finish the job, the owners of this sprawling suburban home called on Carmel Builders to come to their rescue. At first, the situation looked pretty bleak. Haphazard workmanship in the unfinished basement foundation left the home in danger of collapse. Working with a structural engineer, we implemented a shoring plan and embarked on a remedial plan to remove the faulty work and convert the crawl space into a full basement.
With the foundation problems solved, we converted the basement into a finished lower level with multifunctional areas for play, entertaining, hobbies and work. The design separated the space into distinct areas: a family room for playtime and entertaining, a quiet home office with adjacent climate controlled vault to accommodate the owner's valuable stamp collections, a finished laundry room for convenience, and the owners crowning glory, a hi-tech, fully loaded, sound proof media room. Acoustical tiles on the walls work in concert with the speaker layout to provide optimal sound quality. For easy access to wiring, we built a closet behind the electronic equipment accessible from the laundry room.
Carmel Builders was able to end this family’s remodeling nightmare and turn their original dreams into reality, providing them with nearly 1,300 square feet of finished living space, restoring their faith in the remodeling profession!
