Mission Possible: Our assignment was to transform an entirely unfinished basement storage area into a distinctive lower level designed to meet the family’s needs. We chose to accept it! Our challenge was to design the living space around a furnace, sump pump, water softener and electrical circuitry - located throughout the basement.

Our clients wanted a recreation area for entertaining and family enjoyment as well as a finished room that would serve as either a bedroom or office. With a passion for wine they hoped for a wine cellar and bar with a Mediterranean design and feel, reminiscent of Italian wineries they visited. The lower level was designed with an open concept. Arched doorways and alcoves enhance the Mediterranean concept and give definition to the separate areas of the basement. Entirely enclosed, the office and full bath are exceptions, of course. The customized wine cellar gives their extensive wine collection a home and the hand painted mural and wrought iron gate gives a feel of Southern Italy. Abbondanza!

Cleverly concealed behind closet doors and walls throughout the basement are the mechanical units. Comfort and indoor air quality is assured through the installation of an Aprilaire energy recovery unit; incorporating it into the existing HVAC system.
