Distinctions and Honors - Awards We Have Earned

Milwaukee/NARI Local Acheivment Award
Gordy Ziglinski "Spirit of Education" Award

The award recognizes excellence in training and education in the industry in general, and Milwaukee/NARI in particular. Any person whose work is related to the remodeling and building industries and who can show that he or she has trained others, is eligible.

This award is named after Gordy Ziglinski, who became a member of Milwaukee/NARI in 1979, and spent his time as an active member of almost every committee. While serving on the ethics committee, he not only worked with the Better Business Bureau to help set standards for the industry, but also assisted with the development of the Council's Rules and Regulations, as well as the Standards of Procedures Code of Ethics. In 1994, he set up the Education/Certification committee, serving as chairperson until 1996, and was responsible for beginning the certification program for Milwaukee/NARI members.

A member of Milwaukee/NARI since 1988, this year's recipient earned his Certified Remodeler designation in 2000, and became a Certified Kitchen & Bath Remodeler in 2003. He has served as a Certified Professional class instructor since 2001, and was recognized in 2003 as the association's "Certified Professional of the Year." He plays a vital role in putting the NARI Information Center display together for consumer shows and volunteers his time in the "Ask an Expert" area of the Information Center to answer consumer questions. He has participated in panel discussions at local technical colleges, made presentations to trade students at area high schools, and he serves on the Carpenters and Cabinetmakers Advisory Committee of Milwaukee Area Technical College.
