Linda Starr Kons ‘75
Madonna Medal for Outstanding Community Service

Described as a person of “strong ethical and principled leadership”, Linda Starr Kons has spent the years since her graduation from Mount Mary College making her community a better place. Her involvement in volunteer work in Menomonee Falls has touched her parish, her school board, the Little League and a number of service groups. Accolades for her commitment to the community stress that her leadership has benefited everyone from children to senior citizens. Linda acknowledges with great humility her dedication to community service by saying, “This nomination isn’t about me, but about the great accomplishments achieved when everyone works together.” Linda’s ability to get people to work together is undoubtedly one of her greatest skills.

Those who have worked with Linda consistently remark that she “works to build cooperation and collaboration between and among groups.” Some of the groups and activities that have benefited over the years from Linda’s engaging work style include St. Mary’s Vacation Bible School, which she founded, the St. Mary’s Children’s Liturgy Program, the Menomonee Falls Little League of which she was a founding member, the Menomonee Falls Scholarship & Education Foundation Board, the Menomonee Falls Teen Center, the Menomonee Falls Board of Education for which she served as president, St. Mary’s Parish Council, the Healthy Communities Committee Falls Youth Initiative, the Leadership Menomonee Falls Marketing Committee and the Menomonee Falls Chamber Tourism Committee. This list is incomplete, but represents the broad range of interests that have directed Linda’s impressive record of volunteerism.

Today the Alumnae Association of Mount Mary College is pleased and proud to add the Madonna Medal for Community Service to Linda’s long list of accolades. Her willingness to give her time and use her gifts to provide such a wide range of services to her church, school and community is exemplary in every way, making her a most deserving recipient of this honor.
